Laura Patrick, a former athletic standout at Hutchinson Central Christian, Hutchinson Community College and Sterling College, will be named along with six other individuals and one team to the Emporia State University Sports Hall of Fame.
This year’s class will be inducted at the Hall of Honor Luncheon at 11 a.m. in Webb Hall of the ESU Memorial Union on Friday, Oct. 4.
Patrick, women’s basketball 2012-14, was a unanimous first-team All-MIAA selection for the Hornets.
She earned Daktronics All-Region honors and was a D2 Bulletin honorable mention All-American as a senior in 2013.
She led Emporia State to back-to-back MIAA Tournament titles and was named to the Central Regional All-Tournament Team, taking the Lady Hornets to their third straight Sweet 16.
The Hutchinson native ended her career ranked fifth in 3-point field goals made with 175 and was the leader among two-year players for Emporia State.
She made 92 3-pointers as a senior to rank third on the Lady Hornets single-season list. She was named ESU Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2013-14.
At Hutchinson Community College, Patrick earned second-team NJCAA All-American honors. At Sterling College, she was named first-team All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and was the KCAC Freshman of the Year.
At Central Christian, Patrick was an All-State selection and averaged 20 points a game. She led the Cougars to a 21-4 record as a senior.
Laura Patrick’s sister Jamie was named to the Hutchinson Community College Quarterback Club Hall of Fame on Feb. 16, 2024.
Jamie Patrick concluded her Blue Dragon career as the program’s all-time and single-season scoring leader (now No. 3 on the scoring list). Patrick and her 2014 sophomore teammates finished their careers with a 71-3 record.
The Blue Dragons placed third and were the national runner-up in two trips to the NJCAA Tournament during Jamie Patrick’s HutchCC career.
