Nickerson High School graduate Camden Cornelius has announced that he has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Hesston College this fall.

Cornelius, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-hander from Hutchinson, pitched this summer for the Hutchinson Monarchs, the second-place team at the National Baseball Congress World Series.

“Huge congratulations to Camden Cornelius for furthering his baseball career at Hesston College,” said Nickerson baseball coach Jordan Nuss on the Nickerson Panther Baseball Facebook site.

Cornelius was featured May 2 in the Vype Kansas magazine Baseball Spotlight.

“The senior Camden Cornelius from Nickerson High School is finishing up his final year of high school baseball,” said Vype Magazine. “Cornelius is extremely diverse on the field and has played every position, but he predominantly pitches and plays shortstop.”

Vype added: “After graduation this May, Cornelius plans to pursue his baseball career through college and major in criminal justice.”

Camden Cornelius’ brother Carson, also a Nickerson High School graduate, pitched at Emporia State University and McPherson College and also for the Hutchinson Monarchs.
