Buhler High School 2024 graduate Ashlynn Adcock competed for the Kansas team in the Kansas vs. Oklahoma Girls All Star Match Saturday night at Friends University in Wichita.

Kansas won the All-Star Girls Match on penalty kicks.

The Boys All-Star match was played first but was delayed because of lightning.

“Way to represent Buhler — proud of you,” said Buhler soccer coach Randall Rank about Adcock’s participation.

There were 23 college soccer programs recruiting at the matches as well as 14 women’s coaches and five men’s coaches, according to the HSAllStarGame_Soccer X/Twitter page.

Programs represented included the men’s and women’s teams from Hutchinson Community College.

Seven Kansas teams make NBC World Series field

Of the 16 teams in the National Baseball Congress World Series field, seven are from Kansas.

The Jayhawk Collegiate League will be represented by the Hutchinson Monarchs (defending 2023 NBC champions and second-half 2024 JCL champions), Derby Twins, Haysville Aviators and Kansas Cannons. 

Other Kansas teams are the Air Capital Flyers, Hays Larks and Liberal Bee Jays.

The Santa Barbara Forresters, the 2023 second-place team and 10-time NBC champions, will be back.

The rest of the field consists of Boulder Collegians, GPS Legends, Lonestar Baseball Club, San Diego Stars, Seattle Black Fins, Seattle Cheney Studs, TPA Texas and Tulsa Sandlot.

The Hutchinson Monarchs will open the defense of their 2023 NBC World Series title at 6 p.m. Thursday against TPA Texas.

The tournament starts Thursday and concludes Aug. 3.

URSS Silver Crown, Salt City 100 races take place at Fairgrounds track

Kevin Thomas Jr. claimed the title in the inaugural USAC Silver Crown Salt City 100 Saturday night at the Kansas State Fairgrounds.

Liberal’s Steven Richardson won the IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car A Feature 1 race on Saturday night. Ty Williams of Arcadia, Okla., placed second. Jon Freeman, from Salina, placed third.

Justin Lampe, Dodge City, won the IMCA Northern Sportsmod A Feature 1 race. Warren Huffman, Salina, placed second. Dalton Bell, Hoisington, placed third. Huffman won Heat 1 over Lampe and Bell.

The feature winners at Friday night’s United Rebel Sprint Series USAC Silver Crown races at the Kansas State Fairgrounds were William Nusser, Stock Car; Casey Jo Gemmill, Modified; and Jerrod Reimer, Super Stock.

Nusser, from Larned, defeated Hutchinson’s Scott Miler and Craig Miller to win the IMCA Stock Car A Feature 1 division. Nusser won Heat 1 and Mike Petersilie of Hoisington won Heat 2.

Gemmill, from Goddard, defeated Hutchinson’s Jake Nightingale and Wichita’s Randy Wilson to won the IMCA Modified A Feature 1 Division.

Brett Berry, Hays, won Heat 1. Troy Gemmill, Ponca City, Okla., won Heat 2.

Wichita’s Jeremy Campbell defeated Larned’s Steven Richardson and Baldwin City’s Henry Chambers in Heat 1 of the IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Division I.

Ty Williams, Arcadia, Okla., won IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Heat 2 over Jake Martens, Fairview, Okla., and Jon Freeman of Salina.

In Super Stocks A Feature 1, Hutchinson’s Reimers defeated Wichitans Jason McGehee and Kasey Coleman. Reimers won Heat 1 and McGehee won Heat 2.
