Macke Dick Retiring After 36 Years, reception scheduled

Chief Judge Patricia Macke Dick will retire on January 13, 2025, after 36 years with the 27th Judicial District serving the people of Reno County and the state of Kansas.

A retirement reception will be held to celebrate her career from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, in the Division 1 Courtroom on the third floor of the Reno County Courthouse, 206 W. First Avenue.

Macke Dick was first elected as district court judge in 1988 and was appointed as chief judge of the 27th Judicial District, which is composed of Reno County, in 2007.

According to the Kansas Judicial Branch announcement, Macke Dick has served on the Kansas Judicial Council, the Chief Judges Council, the District Court Management Personnel Advisory Committee, the Supreme Court Task Force on Permanency Planning and the Kansas Pretrial Justice Task Force. She is a past president of the Kansas District Judges Association and a member of the American Judges Association, the National Association of Women Judges, the National Conference of State Trial Judges and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.
 

Macke Dick has been a member of the Hutchinson Women Attorneys Association, the Kansas Women Attorneys Association, the Reno County Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
 
Macke Dick has been married to her husband David for 46 years, and they have three children and six grandchildren. She plans to spend her retirement traveling, volunteering and enjoying time with family and friends.
